News Update

It is now only a few days to go before The Framing Show and all indications point to this being a memorable event.

Registrations are up on previous years and bookings for classes are high, with most sessions almost full. And the National Framing Competition looks like having a record number of entries. All good signs. The co-location with the PMA photo marketing show adds another dimension and is sure to be a great benefit to framers visiting the show.

The exhibitors have been working very hard over the last few weeks to ensure this event is a success. As it is two years since the last show there are going to be lots of new and exciting products on show. And the government tax incentives mean there is never going to be a better time to invest in that new piece of equipment. And there will never be a better time to see all the state of the art machinery all in the one place at the one time.

In addition to the in-depth seminar program run in conjunction with The Framing Show, there will be a range of free education sessions on the show floor throughout the event. To be held in a dedicated demonstration area, these short comprehensive sessions will cover topics directly relevant to the picture framing community.

Some of the presentations on the show floor will include:

Tim Edgerton from Marks & Co on Print on Demand,
What does it mean?

James Old from Magnolia Box on Art Prints & Posters.

Mat Kath answers questions on How to Make Money from
DIgital Printing.

Vivian Kislter on Pricing in Picture Framing.

June Andersen on How to get Started in DIgital Printing.

And more.

So make sure you head down to the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour for The Framing Show. It is sure to be worth it.

About the Show

The Framing Show has a new home.

After extensive negotiation and consultation with industry leaders the decision has been made to co-locate The Framing Show 2009 with the Photo Marketing Association (PMA) show in Sydney. While The Framing Show will remain a trade only event, it will relocate to a dedicated hall alongside the very successful PMA show at the Convention and Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour.

The world-wide PMA organisation is the parent body to the Professional Picture Framers Association (PPFA), whose reputation for promoting education and raising standards throughout the industry make it a natural complement to The Framing Show.

The major industry suppliers have given their support to the event and are preparing themselves to present a bigger and better show than ever before.

Holding the Framing Show alongside the PMA show will allow framers the opportunity to visit both the picture framing industry exhibitors and the imaging technology exhibitors in one location, a welcome development for the increasing number of framers who visit both shows, particularly those who travel interstate or overseas to attend.

While not all framers are involved directly with imaging technologies, there is a growing cross fertilisation between the two industries and framers are increasingly confronted by the need to be in touch with developments in this exciting field.

Education will continue be a key focus of the event, with the added involvement of the PPFA providing a welcome boost to the program. A fresh line up of both national and international guest presenters will be on-hand to provide their expertise in a new and reinvigorated seminar program, along with the return of popular personalities such as Vivian Kistler and June Andersen.

The exhibition and presentation of awards in the national framing competition will also be a highlight of the 2009 event.
