Framing Show Update Print E-mail

It is now only a few days to go before the framing show and all indications point to this being a memorable event.

Registrations are up on previous years and bookings for classes are high, with most sessions almost full. And the National Framing Competition looks like having a record number of entries. All good signs. The co-location with the PMA photo marketing show adds another dimension and is sure to be a great benefit to framers visiting the show.

The exhibitors have been working very hard over the last few weeks to ensure this event is a success. As it is two years since the last show there are going to be lots of new and exciting products on show. And the government tax incentives mean there is never going to be a better time to invest in that new piece of equipment. And there will never be a better time to see all the state of the art machinery all in the one place at the one time.

So make sure you head down to the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour for The Framing Show. It is sure to be worth it.

At this stage the overall number of entries to the National Framing Competition is very close to the record breaking tally of the 2007 show, so we can once again expect an impressive selection.

This year’s competition image, ‘Eastern Yellow Robin’, is a stunning photograph by educator June Andersen. The image is being reproduced on an Epson printer using archival inks and Epson Fine Art paper.

The competition will be judged by a panel of experts with the winner’s announced at the Saturday evening Industry Sundowner, 6:00pm - 7:00pm at the venue. Don’t forget to cast your vote for the popular choice award.

Sydney 2009 Print E-mail

Profile magazine and PMA Australia announce that The Framing Show 2009 will be co-located with the Imaging Technology Show in Sydney at the Convention and Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour, June 26-28.

PMA International Director Ted Fox told Profile magazine he looked forward to working more closely with the Australian framing industry. “The PMA has been working successfully with the PPFA for a number of years now and is well aware of both the needs and problems faced by the picture framing industry,” said Ted. “We look forward to working closely with the framing community in years to come to provide a first class trade show for the industry.”

The decision to co-locate the two shows followed a long consultation process, and Australian PMA director Peter Rose has worked tirelessly to ensure that the co-location will be made successfully. Peter is well known to many in the industry and his standing in the framing community was central to bringing this venture to fruition. Peter told Profile, “I think this is one of those classic win win situations. The PMA show will be enriched by having the Framing Show alongside and we will work very hard to ensure the whole framing industry is enhanced by the move”.

As we hear daily reports of the growing buzz leading up to the 2009 show, there is now an even more exciting event to look forward to.
